For what it is, the Lomokino is fun. Relatively easy to load and use. The instructions that come with it are light, so be sure to visit www.lomokino.com for instructional videos. And as far as I’m concerned, the Lomokinoscope is worthless. Difficult to load and use, plus you’re still just looking at the negatives so you don’t get the real movie experience. Better to scan and animate. Or project, but I haven’t even begun to think about how to go about doing that. :-)
Bottom line - it’s a fun toy camera that allows for vintage feeling home movies. Definitely a solid addition to the Lomography family, and a good purchase if you like playing with film.
Got my first roll back from the Lomokino test run! Have only had time to scan and animate the first quick (five frame) sequence so far, but it seems like it worked well enough. I’m sure I’ll have more in depth thoughts on it later. Right now I need to grab a nap so I can make it through tonight!
Might as well…
Had an awesome afternoon with the missus riding bikes and looking at waterfalls. We finally got around to using our groupons for Pedal Bike Tours’ Columbia Gorge Bike Tour. It was fun! Even though it was raining off and on, we all had a blast. We decided to do a group shot at the end, and of course a jump shot was in order. :-)
Don’t think I’ve posted this yet. In 2008, I did a 365 project. To make it more interesting, I shaved my head and face on January 1st and didn’t touch them again for the whole year. In addition to the more creative daily self portraits, I did a straight on head shot every morning. When the year was over, I animated the results to watch the progression. Enjoy. :-)
